The Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies of the University of Coimbra is pleased to host the 1st Student Forum on Classical and Humanistic Studies, which will take place on June 8 and 9 2022.

 

This meeting aims to be a forum for discussion and shared reflection on the work developed and ongoing by students from all the cycles of study (Graduate, Master’s and PhD) or by recent PhDs (up to 5 years or in attendance of post-doc programs) within the multidimensional field of Classical and Humanist Studies.

 

Papers will be submitted to prior selection by the Scientific Committee. They should primarily focus on the inter and transdisciplinary scope of this event, within the field of Greek and Latin studies, reflecting on the classical matrix present in the Portuguese- speaking world, in Medieval and Renaissance studies, Portuguese and Classical Cultural Heritages, and Food Heritage.

 

Presentation submissions

 

Submissions must include a brief CV and an abstract of the presentation. Abstracts (up to 500 words) should summarize the research paper’s substance, including its structure, purpose, methodology, results, conclusion, its implications on theory/practice, and, if that is the case, its contribute to the state of the art in the field.

 

From the submissions, 4 proposals will be selected, based on the abstracts and the participants’ CVs. Participants will function as respondents. After the presentations, one respondent appointed by the organization will highlight the most important and controversial issues, starting the debate. The remaining papers will be presented in a roundtable format.

 

Presentation time: 15 minutes.

 

Poster submissions

 

Posters must communicate the research project’s scope in a succinct and appealing way, containing the title, author’s name, affiliation and supervisor (if any), abstract, brief description, methodology, illustrative images, conclusion, and bibliography.
